Guest at the Q&A following the screening of Peter & the Wolf

A director, screenwriter and animator specialising in stop-motion animation. Her work is distinguished by a remarkable sensitivity to materiality, sparse use of dialogue and a dark, intense emotional register. She studied animation at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design and later at the Royal College of Art in London.

Her student films Stanley (1999) and Dog (2001) gained recognition at international festivals. In 2002, Templeton received the BAFTA for Best Short Animation for Dog. She achieved international acclaim with Peter & the Wolf (2006), a dialogue-free puppet-animated adaptation of Sergei Prokofiev’s work, made in collaboration with the Łódź-based Se-ma-for studio. The film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film, as well as the Annecy Cristal and the Audience Award at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

In 2026, the Imaginaria Festival named Suzie Templeton as the recipient of its Career Award, recognising her significant contribution to the development of European stop-motion animation.
